Geothermal heating and cooling is unlike any HVAC equipment you have ever installed in your Indiana home.
You never ripped up your backyard to install a gas furnace or drilled 150 feet to air condition your home.
Your air-source heat pump never demanded particular soil conditions for optimal heat transfer as a geothermal system does.
On the other hand, no conventional HVAC system is anywhere near as efficient as geothermal heating and cooling. None tread as lightly on the planet as geothermal systems, which tap the Earth’s energy underground and emit no greenhouse gases.
No conventional system lasts as long as geothermal heating and cooling.
Conventional HVAC installation entails a little shopping, research, and a recommendation ahead of installation. Geothermal is more like a journey that requires careful planning, thoughtful design, and expert installation in your Central Indiana home.

What Is a Geothermal System?
In the winter, a geothermal system draws heat from underground, where temperatures are stable, and sends it to your home to keep you warm. In the summer, the geothermal heat pump in your home draws heat from indoor air and expels it below ground through a set of liquid-filled plastic pipes called a loop.
Air-source and geothermal heat pumps share some similarities. Both transfer heat through liquid-filled tubes or pipes. Air-source heat pumps use refrigerant, while geothermal loops are filled with water and a nontoxic antifreeze.
While air-source heat pumps often struggle to extract heat from freezing outdoor air, geothermal loops quickly draw heat from underground.
Planning for Geothermal Installation
Transitioning to geothermal heating and cooling starts with an in-home consultation, during which we gather information about your house and discuss your comfort needs.
When determining the system size, our team considers door and window size, insulation values, and air loss. We also evaluate your ductwork and electrical panel to determine the need for upgrades.
We discuss the type of loop pattern that best suits your property and propose an underground location. Horizontal loops are less expensive but require excavating trenches about six feet deep throughout a significant portion of your property.
Vertical loops are perfect for homes in Central Indiana with smaller sites. However, they are more expensive and require drilling deep underground.
Before deciding on the loop’s final location, we pinpoint any sprinkler systems, propane or oil tanks, and other power or water lines that might interfere with loop installation. We obtain required permits and approvals and ensure excavating or digging machinery and trucks can access your property.
By carefully planning for installation and preparing your home and site, we ensure a smooth and timely transition from your old, conventional HVAC to geothermal heating and cooling. You know what to expect every step of the way.
Installing Geothermal
By the time the digging or drilling begins, you have a thorough understanding of loop installation, including piping details and location.
After placing the loop and extending pipes indoors, we remove your old heating and cooling equipment and install your new geothermal heat pump, bringing your home into the world of efficient, clean, renewable energy.
Our technicians test the system and discuss maintenance needs. Before we leave your home, we will demonstrate the thermostat and show you how to replace the air filter.
Paying for Your Geothermal System
We know that a geothermal heating and cooling system can cost two or three times more than a conventional HVAC unit, but there are ways to cut the price through financial incentives.
We can help you find utility company rebates for geothermal heat pumps and help with paperwork.
The federal government also offers a 30 percent tax credit for geothermal systems placed into service after Dec. 31, 2021, and before Jan. 1, 2033.
The tax credit decreases to 26 percent in 2034 and to 22 percent the following year.
